Care of jewellery
Please follow these guidelines, if in any doubt just get in touch with Cathy and she will be happy to advise on the best way to clean your jewellery.
Avoid contact with chemicals such as oils, perfumes, sprays, deodrants, creams or strong household cleaning products. Always remove your pieces of jewellery before swimming .
Silver tarnishes with time, the speed and extent depends on the wearer and conditions such as exposure to moisture and humidity.
Cleaning Silver pieces - If your pieces is made of just silver it can be dipped in a silver dip available from a jeweller's store. It's advisable to wash your pieces in warm soapy water and brushing gently with an old toothbrush before dipping for the chemical to be able to have the best effect, then rinse well before dipping into the solution. Follow the directions on the jar of silver dip. After dipping wash your piece well in warm soapy water dry gently with a soft cloth. If the piece incorporates gold, gemstones or pearls make sure that the dip is suitable.
Oxidised (Black) Silver Pieces - Do not dip your jewellery if it has an oxidised finish - if you do then the black will be removed. You can rub these pieces gently with a silver cloth to clean.
